Background:
My relationship with Ithaca reflects the comings and goings of many residents. I happen to be here because my family decided that Ithaca was the place where three generations could thrive together. The Ithaca city schools gave me a sense of place within the historical, political and social structures that make Ithaca what is is. Further education and work at a New York State private college readied me for a bigger world. And so, like all explorers, I went east. Employment with a daily international newspaper presented many opportunities while I researched world issues for reporters and editors, sharpened technology skills, interacted with colleagues and devleoped contacts and resources. On several occasions I returned to my Ithaca home base to work at editing and writing stories about the Ithaca and Cornell's amazing library collections and its educators. Working as a real estate sales person continues to give me access to the city's natural beauty, its dedication to the arts and to its diverse community of people. |
